Setting our hearts on the Lord in these unprecedented times we are in, is vital to be able to navigate through, as well as to be in a position to hear from God and have victory in all areas of our lives.
Don’t allow life’s distractions to throw you off course or allow uncertainties to cause discouragement to settle in. Don’t be like King David’s grandson whom took his eyes off God and sinned. (2 Chronicles 12:4).
“Learn from History so you can create your best Story.” – Shaun Smit
We need to learn from King David who made a conscious decision to set his heart and seek after the Lord at all costs.
“My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise.” – Psalms 57:7 NKJV
The word “fixed” means to;
1. Firmly, in position;
2. Not subject to change or variation;
3. Firmly held in the mind; – decision;
This is what I believe the Lord would say to us today, be firm without change and set your hearts and minds on His word, His kingdom and His faithfulness.
“Make a decision, nothing will move you off course.”
God wants us in a place of intimacy with Him. That’s the safe place. That’s the place where secret things are revealed. That’s the place where rewards are found. That’s the place that allows others to see “public fruits through private pursuits.”
Jesus taught the disciples this principle in Matthews gospel.
“But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
“In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.” Matthew 6:6, 9-10 NKJV
Jesus was teaching them;
Firstly, that a solid prayer life starts with intimacy, where no one else dwells, only you and God.
Secondly, it’s about seeking His agenda, His will, His purpose, His plans before anything else. It’s when we position ourselves and decide to set our hearts towards the Lord in intimacy. It’s then that God begins to reveal the secret things of Heaven for His children. The wisdom, strategies, blueprints and so on.
Too many believers think that the Word of God or a prophecy they received and whatever they need is automatic. This is not the case. We must stand in the gap through faith, prayer, fasting, and intercession from an intimate place with the Father, to see things shift on earth.
This was the case with Daniel!
Paul E. Billheimer says: “Daniel evidently realized that intercession had a part to play in bringing the prophecy to pass. God had made the prophecy. When it was time for its fulfillment He did not fulfill it randomly outside of His program of prayer. He sought for a man upon whose heart He could lay a burden of intercession. As always, God made the decision in heaven. A man was called upon to enforce that decision on earth through intercession and faith.”
“In the first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem. And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications (Earnest Prayer), with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes: Daniel 9:2-3 NKJV
Most believers passively wait for its fulfilment — but not Daniel.
Daniel was a man of prayer, fasting and setting His heart after the Lord. Studying the Word of God and intimacy through prayer, reveals God’s heart, God’s seasons and God’s plans.
Let us be a people that are those who set our hearts upon the Lord, determine to seek Him through intimacy and the release His promises and declare, “Thy Kingdom Come – Thy will be done – Here now”….in Jesus name.
