Special Guest Speaker Shane Willard

Once again this February, we have the awesome privilege of hosting Shane Willard at HFCC Gold Coast. Shane will be preaching on Sunday 2nd February at 9.30am and 5pm. We will also be having 2 midweek services on Tuesday 4th & Wednesday 5th February starting at 7pm. Make sure you mark these dates in your diary now.

Shane was born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina and began preaching at age 15. He took his first pastoral position at 19 and served on staff for 7 years at two large churches. Shane is an international speaker, teacher, and motivator. He has spoken in pastor’s and leadership conferences as well as churches throughout the world. Shane’s passion is teaching the Word of God in a relevant way. He specializes in implementing assimilation processes in churches of all sizes. He has helped implement systems for assimilation of people into the body of Christ in churches of 60 to churches of 4,000. At each level the churches experienced significant growth.

Shane is from Charleston, SC (USA) where he began working in full-time ministry as a youth pastor of a small church. Since that time, Shane has held multiple pastoral positions at various sized churches. Shane now ministers full time in America and internationally, particularly in South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand. With degrees in both clinical psychology and theology, Shane is known for being an informative, brilliant and humorous communicator.

Shane is mentored by a pastor with rabbinical training, and teaches the context of the Scriptures from a Hebraic perspective. This perspective helps people to see God’s Word in a completely new way and leads them into a more intimate relationship with the Messiah, Jesus Christ.

As a Man Thinks

PROVERBS 23:7 NKJV “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he….

The writer of Proverbs was making a statement, in summary he was saying that your life is a byproduct of your thought life, in other words what are you thinking about? What do you allow to hover around in your mind all day? I think it was Joyce Meyer who wrote a book, Think about what you thinking about.” Do you think about what you thinking about? The enemy will want nothing more than to find a way to hold your mind and thoughts captive. What’s in your mind will drop in your heart and what’s in the heart comes out your mouth. This begins to shape your world.

It’s crucial to guard your heart as well as guard your mind.

John Maxwell said; “YOUR LIFE TODAY IS A RESULT OF YOUR THINKING YESTERDAY. YOUR LIFE TOMORROW WILL BE DETERMINED BY WHAT YOU THINK TODAY.”

ROMANS 12:1-2 (NKJV) “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

The word conformed means; “to follow worldly patterns, ways of thinking/doing or the lusts of the world.”

The Bible instructs transformation. The word transformed literally or figuratively means “METAMORPHOSE”: to change, transfigure, transform. The same process a caterpillar would go through to become a beautiful butterfly is the process expected that we as believers must go through. In other words there must be change both internally and externally in our lives demonstrating and confirming our born again experience.

We are expected to take on another form and to appear different. We should be seen to be disciples of Christ, Ambassadors of the Kingdom of Heaven.

This transformation can only come by the renewing of our minds. Not based on society, friends and families opinions, but what the living Word of God says and has put in motion.

Salvation is free, God’s grace & mercy can’t be earned however, to have an abundant life fulfilling all God has, requires us renewing our minds, to put off the old, and to put on our “new nature” in Christ. To be transformed more and more each day, requires us to see things the way God sees and to do things God’s ways, the Kingdom’s ways, and not ours (the world’s).

May God bless you, equip you, empower you and help you to become more like our Lord and Saviour every day.
