Compassion, Generosity, and Kindness Becomes Someone Else’s MIRACLE
Hands of Compassion, Heritage of Faith’s charity arm received a call to see if we could help with any furniture or household goods. Even though furniture is not something Hands of Compassion normally does, we felt prompted to engage this lady in conversation to learn more about her circumstances.
Separated from her husband due to domestic violence, this single Mum of the most delightful little girls (an eight and a twelve year old) was relocating south of Brisbane for their own safety and protection.
Prior to moving, they had been sleeping on friend’s couches and living in shelters since leaving their home in September 2016.
Apart from their clothes and a few personal items, their total possessions consisted of a toaster, a couple of plates and a few pieces of cutlery. But God is faithful and always provides a way for those willing to trust Him.
He blessed this young family with a Department of Housing unit which they were moving in at the end of that week, but they had no kitchenware to speak of, no furniture, white goods or linen.
After sharing this story in the office and listening to the Lord, the people at Hands of Compassion agreed to bless the family with an array of brand new linen and kitchenware which included a microwave, electric kettle, slow cooker, electric frypan and an emergency food hamper.
At the weekly church prayer meeting, Pastor Diane shared this touching story and the great needs of this family with the church. God wasn’t even close to being finished yet. The very next day, while meeting with another pastor and his wife, a lady from our church was offered all the furniture needed to set this family up. This finished up including a near new Fisher and Paykel washing machine!
Now… all they needed to put the icing on the cake was a fridge and maybe a TV!
The precious women of Her Heritage Ladies group came together and decided that this young Mum should have a ‘brand new’ fridge. So, they “passed the hat around” and Praise God, they blessed them with a new fridge the day after she moved in! And then another compassionate couple from our church graciously donated a flat screen TV in perfect condition. As you would expect, the two little girls were ‘over the moon’, especially the eight year old who couldn’t wait to watch the news!
Praise God – what started out as just a simple phone call that wasn’t going anywhere, resulted in a needy family being greatly blessed by God’s precious, faithful and generous children.
Hands of Compassion, supported by our Heritage of Faith Church members, were delighted to be involved and extend a heartfelt thanks to all who helped to bless this family and make ‘a miracle’possible.
