The story is told of an old lady who had spent her life “in service” at the home of one of the gentry. As she lay dying, above her bed there was a framed piece of faded paper. A caring visitor asked what this was and she proudly told of how her late master had given her just this one thing before he passed away. The visitor examined it, only to find that it was the owner’s last will and testament and he had left everything in his estate to her. She was a wealthy woman, with land, titles and money – she just didn’t know it!
