Wells of Life

Wells of Life

by | 1, May 2021 | From Our Pastors

We are called to be Wells of Life to the world around us!

The definition of a well is; “A deep hole or shaft sunk into the earth to obtain water, oil, gas, or brine.” We are called to have a depth in the Spirit and a capacity to carry living waters so others can draw from “our wells”.

We see the story in John 4:9-24 where Jesus approached the Samaritan woman at the well and said if she would drink from the water He gave, she would never thirst again. This was spiritually speaking about the waters of the spirit of grace.

In order for us to overflow so others can be refreshed by our overflow or surplus, we first need to drink from the spirit (wells of life) and be refreshed ourselves.

Isaiah 12:2-4 NKJV
“Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; For Yah, the Lord, is my strength and song; He also has become my salvation.” 3 Therefore with joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. And in that day you will say: “Praise the Lord, call upon His name; Declare His deeds among the peoples, Make mention that His name is exalted.

The scripture above is a hymn and a prophetic picture of salvation.

Isaiah was saying you will know Jesus as your supply of living water. To understand what “wells of salvation” refers to you must look at the word salvation and understand its meaning.

The word salvation means; “deliverance, health, help, prosperity, and victory”

We are to draw our deliverance, health, help, prosperity, and victory from our source – Jesus Christ. Our salvation not only includes eternity with Him but also all the above mentioned and more here on earth, now in this lifetime.

John 7:37-38
On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

”Rivers of living water” is alive as well as life giving. In other words, the spirit of grace is active and alive in your life wanting to bring life to dead areas. The fact that He refers to rivers means that Jesus has plenty and a constant supply to saturate all areas of your life. There is an unending supply of the spirt of grace.

The exciting part is this, that God wants to fill you up and then flow out of you into the world around you. There is a condition though. It’s subject to the spirit’s working in you, His seat of His governance in your life, and if you are fully submitted to and submerged under His authority. Finally, how much you are drawing upon Him.

The Holy Spirit is poured in us at salvation, then begins working in us by sanctifying or washing us, then our lives are evident with Him overflowing out of us – watering others.

Salvation is not only about eternal experience although most important. Salvation is also about spirit filled life overflowing in this life. However, we can hinder this flow if we do not guard our hearts.

Proverbs 4:23 TPT
“So above all, guard the affections (Condition) of your heart, for they affect all that you are.
Pay attention to the welfare of your innermost being, for from there flows the wellspring of life.”

Let me close with this.

A pure heart has external evidence just like a tree is known by its fruits – What fruits are SEEN? A fountain is known by its streams. What do people taste when they have “drank” form your well? Are they refreshed or left dry?

Those who drink from the Well of Life (Jesus), through intimacy and fellowship become a Well of Life to others.

“The purpose of a Spirit filled life is to demonstrate the supernatural power of our Living God so that the unsaved multitudes will abandon their dead Gods to call upon the name of the Lord and be delivered.” – TL OSBOURNE

I declare that we would be a people who;

1. Get rid of manmade wells,

2.  Seek fresh, living waters (the spirit of grace) daily.

Guard your heart and allow rivers of living waters to;

1. Flow into your life as well as

2. Flow through your life to others
