What are You Focused On?

What are You Focused On?

by | 1, May 2020 | From Our Pastors

As I was seeking the Lord regarding this article, so much has since happened in the world. The world as we know it has been shaken. Nations, governments, economies, businesses, religion, and households have all been shaken.  In fact, the church as we know it has been shaken. Nevertheless, God has not been taken by surprise nor shaken in this time.

Jesus warned us that these things will happen, it’s in “RED” letter in the word of God. Matthew 24:6-7, 13 “6 And you will hear of wars and rumours of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences and earthquakes in various places. 13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved.” We also see this in LUKE 21:25-26 NKJV 25 And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; 26 men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.” In my lifetime I have never seen of so much, distress,  confusion within Individuals, families, businesses, cities and nations. Men’s hearts have failed them through fear and panic.

What is the key to overcome?

In Matthew 24:13 it says; “13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved.” I believe the only way to endure is through an intimate relationship with Jesus through the Power of the Holy Spirit in these times. Furthermore, are we listening to conspiracy theories, believers slandering and mocking each other’s opinions, thoughts and feelings, or are we looking to the author and finisher of our faith, Jesus (The Word of God)? Revelation 19:13 NKJV “He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.”

I believe this is the time where the word of God talks about in; Luke 21:8 And He said: “Take heed that you not be deceived. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am He,’ and, ‘The time has drawn near.’ Therefore do not go after them.”  As believers, children of the most-high God, be careful of the wrong voices, demonic spirits, media, fear, propaganda and so on to penetrate your heart. Even be careful of those “expert ministers” breaking down other ministers in this time. Don’t allow the wrong voices in your hearts, minds or life. Walk in love, faith and declare hope in Christ.
When I asked the Lord, what do I tell our Church in this time? “What do I share with those asking questions? Despite weather some end time signs are aligning with scripture, some “ideas” of what’s happening in the world are true or not? Despite all these things, what do I say and do Lord?” I asked.  The Spirit of God spoke to me and said, I am the author and finisher of your faith! That’s what you tell people. “Hebrews 12:2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” The Young’s Literal Translation says; “looking to the author and perfector of our faith.” He will perfect all things for His Bride, the Church.

2 Keys in this time.

Firstly, I believe we should be guarding our hearts from what we are allowing in us at this time. Be alert to what voices are the loudest in this time! Quite fitting while writing this over the Passover period. As was custom, this is a time of reflecting and inwardly searching our hearts. A time where we are doing some house “spring cleaning” spiritually speaking that is. A time to be listening for the voice of the Holy Spirit more than ever before. I don’t only believe this is true for Passover, but in this season of life more than ever before. Ask the Lord, “How am I doing, what’s in my heart or life that I need to deal with?

Secondly, I believe we need to be drawing nearer to God in all, heart, thought, words, deeds and discipline. A time to be looking at what the Word tells us about the world at hand. A time to be standing on God’s promises because they are still “Yes and Amen”. A time more than ever to know the heart, character and ways of God. Then we won’t be deceived, right!

Both the above mentioned can only truly come from, drawing near to God with a reverential fear. That means a continuous awareness of His presence and involvement in our lives, families, churches and nation. We also need to cooperate with Him in these times like the Sons of Issachar. Jesus said occupy until I come. Luke 19:12-13 KJV “He said therefore, a certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return. And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.” The Young’s Literal Translation says; …”Do business–till I come;”

This is exactly what we should do!

Jesus never said when these signs appear run away and hide! He said keep advancing the Kingdom, keep building, growing, encouraging, inspiring and winning people to Jesus. No man knows the day nor the hour. Yes, we will know it is near, but that does not mean back off or stop doing what’s on your heart to do.

We are to continue to pray, “Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” Then we are to continue to be fruitful, multiply and fill the earth with God’s goodness, mercy, kindness and the good news – Jesus is Lord and our Saviour.  Brothers and sisters, keep advancing the Kingdom until He (Jesus) says it’s over. May God be with you, may the Holy Spirit empower you, and may the Prince of Peace be with you in Jesus name.
