There are two extremes we find with believers, and please note this is a generalised observation.

There are some believers seeking an experience or encounter of the supernatural and then you have some who are seeking knowledge of the Bible. Both these are wonderful ambitions and should be desired greatly. However one without the other will lead us to an unbalanced territory. Our objective should be to be led by the Spirit of God from a place of intimacy experiencing the supernatural as the “norm” along with maintaining a firm foundation dividing the Word of God correctly seeking divine revelation and truth which keeps us balanced and led by Truth always.

Brother Kenneth Hagin said this; “The Word without the Spirit “DRIES UP”, The Spirit without the Word “BLOWS UP”, yet the Spirit and the Word together “GROWS UP”.” In other words it brings life and much fruit comes forth!

The Apostle Paul mentioned this truth so wonderfully when he addressed the Jews and Greeks about the Jews seeking signs and the Greeks seeking after “mans” wisdom. (See 1 Corinthians 1:22-25) The Apostle Paul goes on in (1 Corinthians 2:1-5“my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power.” In other words what Paul was saying was, “when I release the word of God I trust the power of God will show up and confirm what I preach or proclaim.” This should be every believers reality, no matter what you are believing for or what you need, if you are willing to stand on the Word by Faith, release it out of your mouth with boldness and authority, the Holy Spirit will breathe life on it and cause dead areas in your life to flourish.

The Word Demonstration means to validate something. The Holy Spirit will always validate the Word conceived in the heart (Spirit) and proclaimed by faith.  My encouragement in this is, don’t seek the sign, seek the Sign Maker, Miracle Worker, Way Maker. Signs and Wonders are a bi-product of relationship, faith and revelation of the truth of the Word of God.

When I was thinking about the Holy Spirit and the Word of God colliding, I thought of the word; “Photosynthesis”. Photosynthesis, the process by which green plants transform light energy into chemical energy. During photosynthesis in green plants, light energy is captured and used to convert water, carbon dioxide, and minerals into oxygen and energy – rich organic compounds. Like the light captured and which is converted into energy I thought of how the Word of God is seed and when the Spirit of God overshadows the Word, it is like the energy or power of the sun that causes a catalytic conversion and things begin to shift and transform.

Think about the Word and the Spirit in creation. Genesis 1:2-3 “The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.” Without Form means, to lay waste; desert; confusion, or wilderness. The word Hovering means; sweeping, moving or active. The Spirit of God was present in the wilderness, confession and wasted condition and it wasn’t until the Word of God was released, “Let there be”, that things began to shift and transform.

Think about this:” the Holy Spirit alone creates an atmosphere, however the Word and Spirit together transforms the atmosphere.”  The Word and Spirit take things from; chaos to order, from barren to fruitful, from formless to form, from confusion to certainty.

The same is true in (Luke 1:30-31, 34-38 NKJV.) The Angel told Mary, you will have a Child; he spoke God’s Word and message to her. She never knew how it would be, and it wasn’t until she accepted the seed of the word in her heart, that the Holy Spirit began to go to work and breathe life onto this seed. – the Messiah came forth!

God can take something from nothing and create something! All you need is a Word from God (seed), then to receive and release the word with boldness. The Holy Spirit will then be like the catalytic convertor and begin to release His power into that seed to begin to bring life into that situation.  When we allow the Word of God to be conceived in our hearts (spirit), the Holy Spirit will overshadow and cause life to spring forth.

Ezekiel 37:1, 3-6 “The hand of the Lord came upon me and brought me out in the Spirit of the Lord,  and set me down in the midst of the valley; and it was full of bones. And He said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” So I answered, “O Lord God, You know.” Again He said to me, “Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, ‘O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! Thus says the Lord God to these bones:  “Surely I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live. I will put sinews on you and bring flesh upon you, cover you with skin and put breath in you; and you shall live. Then you shall know that I am the Lord. ”

Ezekiel was taken into the Spirit and asked if what he saw could live? I believe the Lord is asking us the same thing in many areas of our lives. Can that marriage live? Can those finances live? Can that ministry live? Can that body live? Can that business live? Depending on what you see and what you say will determine how the Holy Spirit goes to work in your life and over your situation. Know this, when you keep rooted in a firm foundation of the Word of God, along with building an intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit, things that once were barren and dead will begin to blossom and flourish in your life. My prayer is that the Word of God and the Spirit of the Living God will collide in your life and transform every area of your life to the Glory of God.
